Philosophy 

At 3 Steps Ahead Kindergarten Readiness we believe that consistency and structure help prepare children for a smooth entry into kindergarten. Our responsibility as teachers is to provide a caring, safe and nurturing environment that enables children to learn and to stimulate all areas of their physical, social, creative, cognitive and emotional well being. The children at this centre prepare for kindergarten through discovery, decision making and expression of ideas and feelings.

Our mission at this centre is to offer children the opportunity to grow and develop to their maximum potential using a family centered approach whereby families and teachers work together to meet the needs of their children.  

 Program Info/Highlights 

At 3 Steps Ahead Kindergarten Readiness our goal is to teach a modified kindergarten curriculum to four and five year old children. We will use phonics and introduce a reading program which will encourage parents to spend a certain amount of time each day reading with their child. Literacy, Math and Science centres will be set up within the classroom and the children will have opportunities to play and learn. Children prepare for reading and writing through various techniques, such as building with blocks or comparing simple experiments. At 3 Steps Ahead Kindergarten Readiness we welcome students of all races, national backgrounds and religions. Respecting the fact that some children and families do not celebrate holidays, at this centre we will remain neutral and will not be celebrating any of the holidays. Instead we will acknowledge seasonal themes and symbols throughout the year, such as pumpkins in the fall, snowmen in the winter, and so on. Calendars and newsletters will be distributed on the first of every month.

At this centre we are not Montessori based but we do have a lot of Montessori materials throughout the classroom. We are close to the following schools: Tamanawis Secondary School, Beaver Creek Elementary School, M.J. Norris Elementary School
