Children learn both to speak and to write in Italian, pictured above is
our "Autunno" bulletin board where the children took part in writing
the weather words and painting what autumn looks like to each of them.

"La nostra communita' " (Our community): Project created by the
children describing what their community entails and learning
Italian vocabulary.
|
|

As part of the second language learning process, puzzles and other
manipulatives are used to develop Italian language skills. Here,
children are learning transportation, farming, and numbers vocabulary.
|

One of the goals of the Italian preschool is to help the children
embrace their bicultural/bilingual background of Italo-Canadian. As
such,
festivals and holidays typical in both countries are celebrated, such as
Halloween
in Canada and Carnevale in Italy.
|
|

During the course of the school year, children learn how to prepare
"pizze". In this lesson, children learn vocabulary having to do with
the ingredients and the actions associated with making pizza.
