Philosophy / Mission Statement:
Children of all ages learn thru
play. At Norma's Ark our focus is to offer children a wide variety of
experiences so they can enjoy the process of learning while making friends.
Program Highlights:
Norma's Ark has been offering child
care in the community of Telkwa since 1988. We take pride in offering high
quality child care. We believe in letting children experimentwith new
experiences in a safe supervised setting.
Center Features:
Our Facility is set up with child
friendly centres which promote play. We change things around regularly to
keep the children keen on discovering new ideas and play situations and for the
children to discover ways to explore their surroundings. We have a
wonderful outdoor setting which has a 20 foot by 15 foot sand box, climbing
structure, swings, bike track, a fenced in forest with natural land to discover
and play in. this area is complete with ant hills and dead tree stumps for daily
science. During the winter months which we are blessed with for 5 months
of the year we enjoy bum sliding (toboganning) on the Telkwa school hills which
we are directly across from. During the summer months we enjoy the shade
from our large pine tree. Our centre is fantastic with tons of exciting
activities in a community which gives us the pleasure of natures trails, bridges
and rivers to learn from.

Ark provides transportation from Smithers to Telkwa and back to Smithers at the

Norma's Ark has a 15 passenger van which we use for taking the children on the
many field trips. Our staff have class 4 drivers licenses to take the
children on the many outings each week.
Religious Affiliations: No church affiliation even though
our day care is housed in an old church. We use the whole building to run
our programs from this space.
